If you are reading this, you probably already know that the Remark Office OMR software is designed to process plain paper forms. Remark Office OMR works best with forms that are printed on plain white paper and black ink; however, it is possible to use colored paper if desired.
Based on experience, pastel colors tend to work best if you are going to use colored paper. This is because pastel colors are typically light enough that they “drop out” during scanning. The color dropping out is important because if it does not, the scanned image may appear very dark or even black, which will cause recognition errors in the software.
We understand the desire to make your forms fun and exciting, so feel free to play around with this functionality. If you choose to implement colored paper forms, we strongly recommend that you thoroughly test your paper selection with your scanner before printing and distributing large quantities. This will give you an opportunity to see how your paper selection works and if you need to make any adjustments before distribution. Remember to always follow our form design best practices and do not hesitate to take advantage of our free form review service.
