Form and Setup Features

  • Use your own forms
    • Works with forms you design in any word processor or form designer. No need to purchase expensive preprinted forms.
  • Form duplication
    • Print or photocopy your forms in-house, saving you time and money.
  • Multipage form support
    • Processes multi-page and double-sided forms.
  • No special papers or writing instruments
    • No need for corner marks or any other special marks on forms. Respondents can use pen, pencil… even marker!
  • Mark, barcode and text support
    • Place optical marks (bubbles), barcodes or computer-generated text (OCR) on your forms to capture virtually any type of information (multiple choice questions, demographics, etc.).
  • Handwritten response support
    • Capture comments as image clips or use the data entry function to type-in what you see on screen. In addition, use speech recognition to type in the responses your read.
    • Supports ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition) for processing through your linked Microsoft Computer Vision account (obtained separately).
  • Advanced data formatting of field data
    • Use the robust formatting options to make your data look exactly how you desire. Establish your own patterns for commonly used formats such as dates, phone numbers, social security numbers, and more.
  • Creates fillable PDFs
    • You can save your templates as fillable PDF files for electronic distribution. Fillable PDF files can be easily distributed to respondents via email or posted on a website, then emailed back to you for quick processing.
  • Supports associating questions
    • Allows a question to be linked to a previous question to determine whether the question should be read (useful for skip patterns, ballots and questions with write-in responses).

Scanning and Form Processing Features

  • Scanners
    • Scan forms right into the Remark software with a TWAIN compliant scanner or multifunction device with scanning. Data is produced instantaneously.
  • Copiers and scanning apps
    • Use a copier or mobile scanning app to produce images (TIFF, PCX, JPG, PDF) and process the images in Remark Office OMR. Makes image acquisition available from virtually any device.
  • Easily add items to your data when processing forms
    • Ability to add a default fill item to your data when scanning and importing images (e.g., a course identifier, session identifier, location, etc.).
  • Exceptional form recognition
    • Proven, patented OMR technology reads real world forms with erasures, crossed out marks, skewing, etc.
  • Automatic form identification
    • Eliminate pre-sorting of forms with automatic form, page and respondent identification features.
  • Database Verification
    • Validates data against an external database to 1) confirm that recognized data from a field appear in a particular database field and 2) bring in external data to assist with detailed reporting.
  • Capturing handwriting
    • Capture handwriting as image snapshots and review in a single report.
  • Qualitative coding
    • The user reviews the qualitative responses on-screen and then enters a descriptive code or theme.

    • Simplify entering in qualitative data by using your microphone or headset with our speech recognition engine for entering hand written comments or correcting exceptions.

    • Tracks changes made to data files for the utmost in security. Or, you can completely lock the data down so that changes are not allowed.

Data Analysis and Reporting Overview

Remark Office OMR includes Remark Quick Stats®, a built-in analysis and reporting package that is used to tabulate surveys or grade tests. With the click of a button, the software provides many standard reports. Reports are customizable in terms of information displayed, colors, fonts and graphics. All reports can be exported to various formats (PDF, Excel, HTML, and more) and emailed in order to get information into your constituents’ hands quickly and efficiently. Decisions based on your important data can be made immediately.

  • Minimum System Requirements
    • Personal computer with 2 GHz or faster processor
    • Supported Microsoft Windows® 32-bit and 64-bit desktop operating systems:
      Windows 10 or Windows 11
    • .NET 4.8 (or higher) framework
    • Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Package (will be installed if not present)
    • 2 GB RAM
    • 1 GB free fixed disk space
    • Screen/monitor resolution of 1024×768 or higher and at least 32-bit color
    • Mouse or other pointing device
  • Recommended optional requirements
    • Supported scanner (includes multifunction printer that has scanning capabilities)
    • Windows-supported printer
    • Internet connection recommended for initial software activation and email functionality
    • PDF viewer required to view installed documentation
    • Microphone for speech recognition
    • Microsoft Outlook 2007 or greater can be used for email functionality; if not present an internal Remark Office OMR email client (using your SMTP server) may be used

*The software uses activation for license regulation. If you choose to install on a virtual machine (VM), due to the nature of how virtual environments behave, online activation is required every time the software is run.
