It also easily created images that we read into Remark Test Grading Cloud for grading.

The DS-320 is ultra portable and compact. It scans completed forms efficiently with its 20-page automatic document feeder, and has the ability to scan 25 pages per minutes (simplex) or 50 images per minutes (duplex). You can find more information on this scanner here.

Because the software is a multi-purpose data collection tool, you may find that you have questions about how to utilize certain features to your benefit. The Remark Support Team provides a number of free resources for addressing your technical questions. Gravic’s free online knowledgebase outlines responses to frequently asked support inquiries, making this information readily available to you. Additionally, you will find free scannable sample forms, training videos, information on our free form review service, and further training options available in the support area of the Remark Software website. Please note, one-on-one online training is not covered under maintenance and support.

The free offerings are available to all customers; however, certain support items are only provided if you have valid maintenance and support. Remark Support is available for live assistance to customers with valid maintenance and support. One of the greatest benefits to having a valid maintenance and support contract for Remark Office OMR (version 2014 or later) is that the service includes all software updates. Gravic recently released Remark Office OMR 2014 Service Pack 5! This update includes:

  • The ability to read in electronically filled-in PDF forms,
  • The option to select specific reports when exporting them to Excel,
  • The Condensed Item Analysis with Statistics and Basic Item Analysis with Statistics Reports are now available when exporting to Excel,
  • Applying partial credit in Advanced Grade for Grid style OMR regions,
  • Running Database Lookup on an open file, allowing you to refresh the data if the lookup information has changed.

Remark Office OMR Service Pack 5 is only available to customers with valid maintenance and support. If you no longer have a valid agreement, we strongly encourage you to renew at this time. Renewing will allow you to download the latest version of the software, receive any updates released prior to your next expiration date, and take advantage of all of the other benefits as outlined in our complete maintenance and support policy.

Best Practices for Remark Office OMR Form Design http://remarksoftware.com/blog/2017/03/best-practices-for-remark-office-omr-form-design/ Thu, 02 Mar 2017 14:59:35 +0000 http://remarksoftware.com/?p=5315 […]]]> One of the best features about Remark Office OMR is the ability to create your own forms, which gives you a great deal of flexibility. However, when creating a form to use with Remark Office OMR, there are a few guidelines to follow to ensure accurate results. Here are some recommendations to follow when designing your forms:

  • Forms can be created anywhere including: Microsoft Word & Excel, Google Docs, Adobe InDesign & Illustrator.
  • Use the OMR bubbles font to create bubbles, or use a capital “O” in the Arial font between 10 and 14 points in height.
  • Text to be read by the OCR feature should be a standard font (e.g. Times New Roman, Arial) and size 14 or above. Barcodes to be read should be size 26 or above.
  • Allow sufficient spacing (at least 3/8 inch) between text, lines, graphics, text, bubbles, or barcodes.
  • Avoid lines or boxes around or between answer choices, if possible. If lines or boxes are necessary, consider using a light gray color that will disappear when scanned.
  • Group similar types of questions together (e.g. True/False, multiple choice) in order to simplify defining the OMR region when you create your Remark template definition. The marks of a region must be aligned horizontally and vertically.
  • Standard 20# copier paper works well for single-sided forms, and 24-28# paper works well for double-sided forms. Color paper also works with Remark Office OMR, as long as the color completely drops out when it is scanned.

The new fonts, displayed below, produce letters and numbers surrounded by a square or a rectangle. These fonts are great if you want your forms to have a different look, but get the same results from the software. Additionally, we also provide the traditional OMR bubble fonts where the letter or number is surrounded by a circle. All these fonts were created with Remark Office OMR in mind, so they will work great with the product. Additionally, we also offer a Code 3 of 9 barcode font for use with Remark Office OMR. All of our fonts will automatically install in your Windows font directly when you install Remark Office OMR or you can manually download them here.

We continually work on all of our products, primarily based on your suggestions, and are happy to tell you about some of the new features in version 9.5:

  • Added the ability to read in electronically filled-in PDF files. This option is available in the Read window when reading images.

Operation Christmas Child is one of the many projects performed by Samaritan’s Purse, a nondenominational Christian organization that, like the Good Samaritan in the famous biblical story, provides aid to those in need throughout the world.

Operation Christmas Child aims to give gifts to children in need during the holiday season. The premise is simple: fill a shoebox with gifts for the children. The shoeboxes are then collected, sorted by volunteers, and shipped to different parts of the world to be distributed. This year, we at Gravic were able to pack 35 shoeboxes, our highest total to date. The shoeboxes were filled with several different items, such as soap, toothbrushes, toys, puzzle books, art supplies, candy, and many more items that children would want and need. We hope that our donations have made children’s holidays a little more cheerful.

We are pleased to announce that the second iteration of Remark Test Grading Cloud is now available! Version 2 is a complete rewrite of the product, where we focused on making the interface easier to use while adding some enhancements, such as the ability to handle multiple answer keys, importing class rosters from Excel, greater flexibility in building forms, and more. The part you don’t see, the hosting service back end, was moved to Amazon Web Services, the world’s most popular hosting provider. This platform provides added security and scalability for the solution now and into the future.

Current customers will be able to move over to the new version automatically by clicking on a banner that displays when you start the application. When you switch, all your classes and data will be there for you. If you are not ready to switch, you will have the option to continue using version one until the summer.

Google Drive is one of the most popular applications used in K-12 schools. Many scanners already have functionality to scan directly into Google Drive. As such, we have added functionality to our Remark Test Grading Cloud application to be able to pull images from your Google Drive account for processing.

If you store completed test answer sheets in Google Drive, here are the steps you need to take to pull them into the Remark cloud to be processed.

Access completed test images from Google Drive in Remark Test Grading Cloud Edition for easy grading

To use Google Drive, the process looks like this:

  1. Click Process Tests in the menu.
  2. Click Google Drive in the menu.
  3. If not already signed in, you are prompted to log into your Google account.
  4. Once signed in, select one or more files from the Google Drive account.
  5. Once selected, the files appear in the list of images to process.
  6. After all of the desired files have been selected, click the Process button to upload and process the selected images.

The images are then processed and you can continue working in the application. You are notified once the processing is complete.
